SYSTEM OF ACTIVITIES TO CONTERACT SUICIDAL IDEATION IN STUDENTS

Mental health continues to be conditioned by the stigmas imposed by society and here we find suicidal ideation, which is the starting point for the act. The objectives were to investigate suicidal ideation through the biopsychosocial process in nursing students, to inquire into the basic concepts about the risk factors in suicidal ideation and to explore the differences in risk factors and the effectiveness of early interventions. We worked under the qualitative methodology, we will describe suicidal ideation and the factors that condition it. With an inductive-deductive approach, from the results obtained we will relate the subjective experiences of the respondents with existing theories on the subject. By applying the Plutchik scale randomly, it was obtained with a sample of 106 nursing students that there are 34 students at risk of suicidal ideation, that is, they obtained a score equal to or greater than 6 points. This finding indicates a high risk of suicide and represents that almost 36% of these students need specialized help that the institution must provide. In conclusion, it is of utmost importance to manage protocols with qualified mental health professionals within educational institutions, since severe problems such as suicidal ideation can arise. This article contributes to the research project “Health as a determining factor in the academic and administrative performance of the ULEAM university community, Pedernales extension”.
