Abstract

The Tarpuy Association, located in the community of Apahua, Pujilí canton, Cotopaxi province, focuses its productive activities on the breeding and commercialization of alpacas and their by-product. This study aimed to analyze the income and expenses generates during the year 2023 to determine the association’s economic performance and provide useful information for decision-marketing. Through quantitative and qualitative methods, accounting records, member surveys, and an interview with the administrator were examined. The analysis revealed that most of the income came from the sale of alpacas and their by-products, while expenses were mainly related to operational costs and the purchase of supplies. The study determined an unfavorable economic result, whit an operating loss of $268,40, as total income was $3.238,00 and total expenses amounted to $3.506,40. Despite this deficit, the association’s financial stability was not compromised due to its accumulated equity, which allowed it to absorb this temporary imbalance. It is concluded that the activity is profitable and has growth potential, but requires improvements in expense control and the implementation of an accounting system tailored to community needs. This study supports realistic projections to enhance the profitability and sustainability of the association in the medium and long term.
