HEALTH GOVERNANCE AS A TOOL FOR CITIZEN COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SERVICES. STUDY UNIT: BARCELONA-ABRERA, 2023

Health governance as a tool for citizen engagement in improving primary health care services are key aspects to ensure quality and equity in the provision of health services. The study focuses on analyzing Health Governance as a tool for citizen engagement in improving Primary Health Care Services in the Barcelona-Abrera 2023 study unit. The research adopts a mixed approach, non-experimental design, field type, cross-sectional level of analysis, phenomenological-hermeneutic, descriptive-interpretive method. A random sample of 100 users was selected, and two key informants from health personnel. A survey and interview were applied identifying patterns and trends. A content analysis was carried out to delve deeper into perceptions and experiences. The results of the respondents reveal that 42% of users perceive inadequacy in the available resources and 33% are dissatisfied with the response to urgent needs, while 45% positively value the professionalism of the staff. Perceptions and experiences highlight the importance of participatory health governance and active citizen engagement in improving primary health care services to achieve more efficient, equitable health systems focused on the needs of the population. Accountability and transparency implies that health authorities and service providers are responsible to citizens, involving the community in the training of health professionals, contributing to care that is more focused on the needs of the population, promoting empathy, cultural sensitivity and the provision of quality and humanized services.
