Abstract
The construction industry, particularly concrete production, constitutes one of the main global sources of carbon dioxide emissions and resource consumption, driving the search for sustainable technologies capable of reducing this impact without compromising structural performance. The adoption of these technologies largely depends on the strategic management decisions of construction companies, which determine the organizational disposition toward innovation, investment in alternative materials, and circular economy practices. The objective of this narrative review was to examine the relationship between the adoption of sustainable concrete technologies and the strategic management of companies, using available scientific literature. Indexed sources in scientific databases were searched by combining terms in Spanish and English related to supplementary cementitious materials, green concrete, circular economy, and sustainability management, prioritizing publications from the last ten years. The results show that, although there is broad technical development of solutions such as supplementary materials, recycled aggregates, and prefabricated systems, their adoption remains limited by knowledge barriers, initial costs, and a lack of clear regulatory frameworks; meanwhile, managerial commitment acts as a determining factor for their implementation. It is concluded that the technical sustainability of concrete and the organizational sustainability of companies are interdependent processes that must be addressed jointly for an effective transformation of the sector.
