DESIGN OF A DATAMART FOCUSED ON DECISION-MAKING BY THE NATIONAL POLICE

Abstract
The main objective of this scientific article is to design a Datamart to facilitate decision-making by the Ecuadorian National Police. This is based on a documentary analysis method through the review of different bibliographic sources such as journals and books, considering the relevant contributions on how to make the Datamart creation process effective. In turn, a quantitative approach and a descriptive scope were implemented, making use of tools such as PgAdmin, MySQL, and Pentaho, for the precise organization of the database from various police sources, applying in turn a Business Intelligence development scheme, which covers the planning, analysis, design, implementation, and validation phases of the system. Particular emphasis was placed on the ETL data extraction, transformation, and loading process using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) as the main technological tool. Concluding that the design of a Datamart contributes significantly to the area of public security in data management to contribute to decision-making by the National Police.
