ANXIETY IN RENAL PATIENTS ON HEMODIALYSIS

Abstract
Anxiety in renal patients is considered a frequent emotional disorder due to the significant changes in the lives of these individuals due to the presence of CKD and the imminent need for HD treatment to stay alive. The aim of this work consisted of delimiting the construct anxiety, investigating its prevalence in renal patients and analyzing the factors associated with this emotional disorder from Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Model. A systematic review of the literature was carried out, including articles and two doctoral theses. Anxiety was delimited from its terminology and cognitive aspects, in addition to differentiating it from other related terms, it was found that anxiety is highly prevalent in renal patients and that in the person-environment binomial there are variables that influence the presence of anxious symptomatology in these people. It is concluded that the delimitation of the anxiety construct allows differentiations that facilitate its conceptualization for a multidimensional approach; the assessment of the emotional state of dialysis patients is fundamental, including the factors and elements of their immediate interrelated environments.
