COMMUNITY SELF-MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT: SANCÁN COMMUNITY CASE

Abstract
The article addresses the issues related to sustainable development in the Sancán community, highlighting the need to implement community self-management strategies that empower residents and promote business sustainability. The main objective of this research was to analyze effective strategies that the community can adopt to improve their quality of life and preserve the environment. A qualitative-quantitative methodology was employed, and the type of research was descriptive, bibliographic, and field-based. This was accompanied by deductive, inductive, descriptive, analytical, and synthetic methods, based on semi-structured interviews with the community leader and surveys directed at the residents of Sancán, complemented by a documentary analysis of previous initiatives. The results revealed that the community has developed innovative practices in organic agriculture and entrepreneurship that contribute to social cohesion and economic well-being. The findings indicate that citizen participation in decision-making is crucial for the success of these initiatives. The conclusions emphasize that self-management not only improves environmental sustainability but also strengthens social fabric and community resilience. The innovative aspect of the study lies in the application of a self-management model that integrates digital technologies for the planning and execution of projects, facilitating communication and access to resources, which could serve as a reference for other communities in similar contexts. This comprehensive approach promotes sustainable local development that adapts to the specific needs and capacities of the Sancán community.
