OCCUPATIONAL RISK ASSESSMENT FOR NURSING STAFF IN THE HIGH-RISK OBSTETRIC SERVICE OF THE LUZ ELENA ARISMENDI PEDIATRIC GYNECOLOGY-OBSTETRIC HOSPITAL DISABILITIES

In any work activity workers are exposed to risks that can compromise their health, in the particular case of hospital workers, these risks are enhanced given the direct contact with patients who can transmit viruses, bacteria and fungi that affect their health, as well as exposure to physical and chemical agents, in addition to ergonomic risks due to the high workload and psychosocial risks due to the pressure especially in departments such as obstetrics. In this sense, the research objective was to make an evaluation of the occupational risks in the nursing staff of the high-risk obstetric service of the Pediatric Gynecology-Obstetric Hospital Luz Elena Arismendi in 20 workers, including nurses and doctors, of this department based on the prevalence and severity of the risks. The results reveal that in the high-risk obstetric service of the Luz Elena Arismendi Pediatric Gynecology-Obstetric Hospital the risks with the highest probability of occurrence are those of a psychosocial and ergonomic nature and those with the lowest prevalence are those associated with exposure to physical, chemical and biological agents, which leads to the conclusion that measures must be taken to minimize them, such as reducing the workload and rotating work shifts.
