This research refers to a study of the correlation between burnout syndrome, defined as an excessive emotional state of chronic stress within the work environment of a private clinic in the city of Quito – Ecuador, among healthcare personnel, and perceived stress. Objective: To identify burnout syndrome in healthcare professionals working at a private clinic. Methodology: A quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, epidemiological, longitudinal, and cross-sectional study analyzing the stress levels in 71 healthcare professionals at a private clinic in Quito – Ecuador (study population to be included). Instrument: The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) (Human Survey) for healthcare personnel and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) were used. Results: The following results were obtained based on the described objectives, characterizing the most common affects within the studied population: the dimension of lack of personal achievements was affected by 59.99%, followed by emotional exhaustion at 59.30%, and finally depersonalization, with an affectation of 11.66%. The stress scale showed a high direct score, meaning that the higher the score, the higher the perceived stress level in healthcare professionals within the private clinic located in Quito – Ecuador (the studied population). Conclusions: It is concluded that the personnel in the Private Clinic in Quito are positively reactive for burnout syndrome at elevated levels within the personal achievements and emotional exhaustion spheres, with treating physicians specializing in specific areas, and males presenting higher levels of stress according to the Maslach (HS) instrument. Healthcare professionals also self-report experiencing elevated stress levels.
