This study addresses the ergonomic risks faced by field technicians in the telecommunications industry in Guayaquil, a sector where working conditions are critical due to the high incidence of musculoskeletal disorders. The objective of the research was to identify ergonomic risks resulting from forced postures in overhead work and propose preventive strategies to improve occupational health and safety. The methodology employed was a descriptive cross-sectional design with a population of 35 male telecommunications technicians, aged between 30 and 39 years, with a work experience of 3 to 5 years, performing overhead tasks. Posture measurements were conducted using the REBA method, complemented by qualitative analysis of the standardized Nordic Questionnaire, which allowed the identification of affected body areas. The Nordic Questionnaire revealed a high prevalence of musculoskeletal discomfort, primarily in the lumbar area (42.8%). The REBA method identified forced postures with a high-risk level. These results highlight the need to implement preventive measures, such as redesigning workstations, training workers on ergonomic postures, implementing active breaks, conducting continuous ergonomic supervision, and modifying the workflow.
